I can't be the only one who thought of this. Ant Man is the perfect metaphor for flash fiction.
I went to the movie over the weekend, and in between laughs and tears, I kept thinking about flash fiction. Ant Man is the product of technology that shrinks the space between atoms. He's smaller, and denser, giving him bullet-like strength. Ant-like strength. Yet he's a complete man, completely himself.
The flash story is a story of shrunken spaces. Spaces between scenes, between paragraphs, sentences. Shrinking the spaces between words. Flash is denser, and in my opinion, stronger than its wordier counterparts. This is the power of miniature.
